Editor Suresh Urs dons a new avatar in Mahaan Kanakku
Suresh Urs is a leading and experienced editor and has worked in more than 500 hit films including Mani Ratnam’s Roja, Thalapathi, Bombay, Iruvar, Rajeev Menon’s Kandu Kondein Kandu Kondein and Minsara Kanavu, Charan’s Kadhal Mannan, Amarkalam and Vasoolraja MBBS and P.Vasu’s Chandramukhi to name a few. In fact, he is the most preferred editor in the industry and this is supported by the fact that he had been the editor for all movies of Director Bala. He has won two national awards and many State awards. Now he is adding yet another feather to his cap as an actor and the credit goes to new director Sampath Arumugam who introduced him in his movie “Mahaan Kanaku”.
He plays an important role as the CEO of a SAP computer training institute. He had turned down offers to act from leading directors earlier but had taken up this role with complete enthusiasm. When we checked with Director Sampath Arumugam on how he had made this possible, he replied thus “I saw him editing for my film and thought that he will fit into the character that I had in my mind. When I asked him whether he would be interested in acting, he replied in the negative by stating that he only knew how to cut and not how to act. This statement increased my resolve to have him and him only for this role. I convinced him that he would be the best option for this role. My continuous persuasion worked wonders and I am really glad and privileged to have introduced him as an actor in my first film. He liked the experience and has agreed to act in another Malayalam movie as well”

Real lawyer becomes a Reel lawyer in Mahaan Kanakku

Karthik has been serving as a high court lawyer since 2005 but he was drawn into the tinsel world by the director’s narration of the script for his first film “Mahaan Kanaku”. He felt that this film would be a great launch pad for him to enter the film industry and crave a niche for himself as an actor. He had been approached by the director to discuss some law points which were crucial for the film and had ended up with a plum role as the Opposition lawyer. He was only too glad to take up this role.
C.R. Baskaran who is the founder of the organization “Needhiyin Kural” has played an important role as the hero’s lawyer. Director Sampath Arumugam is confident that the court scene in this film will become the talk of the town once this movie is released.

A lot of money and thinking had gone into creating a set which resembled a private bank. It was not an easy joke to do this because the art director Siva Kumar had to follow the plan given by the director to match his requirements. In the same manner, a set was created in Prasad Studio for one of the song sequences which cost an ooping twenty lakhs. The set was made in transparent material which added to its beauty and this was visible in the hut, banana tree, well and water wheel to name a few. Dance Director Krish choreographed this song with the lead pair Ramana and Reecha Sinha along with fifty dancers.
The film was given “U” certification by the Censor Board and the director was praised by the Board members for the social awareness script. Mahaan Kanaku is scheduled to release by the end of this month.
